BASF Ultrafuse® PC/ABS FR
is a flame retardant technical filament that offers very good mechanical properties.
Ultrafuse PC/ABS FR Black is a flame retardant V-0 blend of polycarbonate and ABS – two of the most commonly used thermoplastics for technical and electrical applications. The combination of these two materials results in a high quality material with a blend of the excellent mechanical properties of PC and the comparatively low pressure temperature of ABS. When combined with a halogen-free flame retardant, parts printed with Ultrafuse PC/ABS FR exhibit high tensile and impact strength, have higher heat resistance than ABS, and can meet the requirements of the UL94 V-0 standard.
Advantages at a glance
- Halogen-free flame retardant with a UL 94 flame retardancy rating of v0 (@1.5mm & 3.0mm)
- Glow wire test
- Excellent surface quality
- Excellent mechanical properties
- UV stabilized
- Good printing performance on desktop printers
Applications for BASF Ultrafuse PC/ABS FR Filament
PC/ABS FR is mainly used for industrial components that require flame retardancy. This is the case in the automotive, transportation and consumer electronics industries, among others. The filament has been tested for flame retardancy class V0 (UL94) for printed parts with 1.5 and 3.0 mm wall thickness. For housing parts in electronics, the material has been tested to glow wire test (GWEPT) 725°C at 1.5 mm and 960°C at 3.0 mm wall thickness.
